I am active in both teaching and research. Research Interests: I am engaged in research in a number of areas, but focused on a few key areas lately, including: - Medical & Public Health Education - Health Workforce Development - Primary Care Practice Improvement - Health Policy (Particularly Tobacco Policy) I also have worked in cancer screening and information, genetics, mental health, and health ethics, and am still active in these areas, especially as they overlap with my primary research focus areas. Teaching: I teach research methods and grant writing in the CNY Master of Public Health program, as well as serve as an advisor and instructor for MPH students completing their field placement and Capstone requirements. I teach and mentor students in the MD program as well, in various capacities, generally related to either resarch methods or "medical social science" topics, and am developing a new cross-listed elective for MD and MPH students that connects public health and "biopsychosocial" clinical care. Beyond direct teaching, I also serve in various educational, research, and administrative capacities at my academic institution. I additionaly serve as the director of the Central Region Office of the NYS Area Health Education Center System.
