Christopher Ryan Porter is a San Diego native with over three decades of teaching experience in San Diego schools. Porter loves his job as a language arts and English teacher to middle school students. He started teaching 7th and 8th grade and continues to teach those grades. He notes that it's not only the students who learn something everyday in his classroom. Porter feels that he's still learning a lot, even after over 30 years on the job.

A graduate of the University of California, San Diego, Christopher Ryan Porter has a BA in English and a Masters degree in Education. He's been married to his lovely wife for 25 years. She's also a teacher, but she teaches biology instead of English. The pair actually met when they were teaching at the same school. It was Mrs. Porter's first year on the job and Christopher's 10th.

Christopher Ryan Porter has a son who is also named Christopher. The father and son get along very well. It's truly a case of like father, like son, as Chris Jr. also wants to become an English teacher. He's currently in his last year of high school and plans on enrolling at his father's alma mater. Since Chris Jr. was a young boy, the two have enjoyed reading books together. A few of their favorite books to read together include The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe and the His Dark Materials trilogy.

Christopher Ryan Porter has a number of hobbies. The San Diego area is the ideal area for a lover of the outdoors. The weather is nearly always lovely and the beaches are fantastic. Two of Porter's favorite outdoor hobbies are mountain biking and kayaking in the ocean. Each year, Christopher Ryan Porter goes on a multi-day mountain bike trek with his son. The annual trips give the two a chance to bond as father and son.

The San Diego area also allows Christopher Ryan Porter and his wife to indulge in their love of culture. The two hold yearly subscriptions to the La Jolla Playhouse. They are also frequently in the audience at the San Diego Opera and regularly attend performances of the San Diego Symphony.
