Kate Martyn

Kate Martyn grew up in Western Australia. After ten years as a secretary, she enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts course at the University of Western Australia. Three years later she graduated – with a degree, a husband and a new baby. After some years spent at home raising her five children, she re-entered the paid workforce and now works in records management at her alma mater.

For ten years she wrote a fortnightly column in a local newspaper, dispensing homespun wisdom about family life. She has also published articles in one of Australia’s most well-known literary and cultural magazines.
