Craig is a highly experienced collision investigator and has been investigating road collisions since 2006. He is a Chartered Forensic Practitioner in Collision Investigation and has international casework experience in South America, Africa, and Europe.

Following his MSc, which focussed on road safety, and beginning a PhD in criminology researching how big-data and machine learning could reduce road collisions, he left policing and accepted a role at the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL). In this role, he was the Technical Lead for their Forensic Investigations team and led forensic collision investigation for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

Craig is a digital data specialist and holds advanced qualifications in forensic video analysis and digital data. He is a LEVA Certified Forensic Video Technician (CFTV) qualified to level four and has experience in video enhancement, comparison, and audio analysis. In addition, Craig has extensive experience with a range of digital data sources including tachographs, event data recorders, accelerometers, and telematics, and has consulted on cases involving connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs), e-Bikes, and e-Scooters.

Craig is an experienced expert witness and has prepared expert reconstruction reports, joint expert statements, and acted as a single joint expert (SJE). In addition, he has given evidence across the judiciary including Criminal, Civil, Coroner’s courts, and Public Inquiries.

In addition to his collision investigation practice, Craig is the Honorary Secretary for the Chartered Society of Forensic Science and sits on the editorial board for Elsevier’s Science & Justice Journal. He is a peer-reviewer for both the SAE and Elsevier, and regularly acts as a subject matter expert on speed analysis for the Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Video Association (LEVA).

Craig joined Hawkins in January 2026 as a Development Manager and Forensic Collision Investigator. His practice is predominantly focused on civil litigation cases, although he also accepts instruction in criminal matters.
