Dr. Craig Barkley

A physician with a practice in western Florida, Dr. Craig Barkley graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance before pursuing his medical education at the Indiana University School of Medicine. After earning his Doctor of Medicine, Dr. Barkley completed an internship at Blodgett Hospital and St. Mary’s Health Care in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Initially, Dr. Barkley planned to focus on internal medicine, but he decided during his two-year tenure as a Resident at The Ohio State University Medical Center that he would become a urologist. To accomplish this goal, Dr. Barkley pursued three additional years of training at The Ohio State University.

Upon completion of his residency in urology, Dr. Craig Barkley helped establish the partnership of his current practice, Urology Specialists of West Florida. Continuing his education to learn new technologies and treatments, Dr. Barkley embarked on training and coursework to become certified by the American Urological Association, the Texas Institute of Laparoscopic Surgery, and the Robotic Surgery Training Program at the Visconti Center for Robotics at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta. Dr. Barkley also holds certifications in InterStim Implantation, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, and RevoLix Laser. These treatments often result in optimal results while minimizing downtime for patients.

Throughout his career, Dr. Craig Barkley has held a number of positions treating patients and serving the medical community. Today, he acts as an Advisor to The Pinellas Counter chapter of the United Ostomy Associations of America, Inc., and a Member of the Oncology Committee and the Medical Staff Quality Committee at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater. Other roles that Dr. Barkley undertook at the hospital include eight years as the Chief of the Urology Section, two years as the Chairman of the Department of Surgery, and three years as a member of the Emergency Room Committee. He also worked closely with administrators on forward-looking efforts at Morton Plant Hospital as a member of the Board of Directors.
