Defense Attorneys Group Fetes Retired Colleagues

The San Diego Defense Attorneys Association (SDDAA) held a luncheon to celebrate the careers of their recently retired colleagues. In a luncheon hosted by SDDAA Executive Director Frank Adams, the members of the esteemed law group thanked their most senior colleagues for their contributions to the group and the whole profession as well.

“The guidance, the network, as well as the wisdom unselfishly shared by our recently retired colleagues is immeasurable. This luncheon is our small way to show appreciation for all that, and we hope that we get that message across to you all,” Adams said as he led the whole group in honoring the retirees.

Each retiree was called on to stage to receive a plaque of appreciation bearing the years of their membership to the organization.

Retiring colleagues also had their families with them during the event. “We make it a point to have events with our member’s respective families. After all they are our number one support group,” Adams says.

Rachelle Cortez is a daughter of one of the retiring defense lawyers. “It is so nice to see the families of my father’s colleagues. We literally grew up seeing each other a couple of times a year because of this group. ” Cortez said.

Her father, Enrico Cortez shared mixed emotions during the SDDAA event. “This group helped me grow as a criminal defense attorney and I am very thankful for that. I do not like to sound melodramatic, but I sure will miss our fellowship events,” Cortez said prior to raising his glass to thank the SDDAA on behalf of his fellow retirees.
