Cristina Sevilla Fuentes
translator in Madrid, Spain
I have a degree in Economics Sciences specialized in Monetary Policy and Public Sector by Complutense University, Madrid. I also have a Master in Finance and another in Professional Translation specialised in Finance/Legal, Renewable Energies, Medical /Pharmaceutical) . I've attained further training in Literary, Translation, Location, Editing, Proofreading and Writing.
I worked in Finance for over 15 years. I started my working life as an intern in Banco Santander, becoming a Corporate Banking Manager three years later in Banco Cooperativo Español ( Caja Rural Group) .During my four years in BCE, I not only managed a direct corporate portfolio, but also managed a rural saving bank's portfolio and trained rural saving banks in Corporate Banking as part of my responsibilities. After that, and for 10 years, I worked in Standard and Poor's (one of the three top rating agencies for those not familiarised with the firm). Within the company I worked as a Credit Rating and Servicer Evaluation Analyst in Structured Finance for eight years, and as an Investor Relation for Iberia near of two years. During my time as an analyst, I wrote a considerable number of published articles, all of them written in English, which despite it is not my mother tongue, I achieved to master it ( C2 English level as per the Common European Framework). A further achievement from that period is that I learned to work easy under pressure and with tight deadlines As an Investor Relation on the other hand, I represented the firm among different market participants, attended and coordinated many external and internal events.
I've worked as a freelance translator English to Spanish ( EN>SP) for three years now. Although my speciality is Finance and Economics, I´ve worked on literary, politic and general translations as well. I collaborate with some NGO´s as a volunteer translator ( red de traductores en Acción, OSRAM, Rosetta Foundation, Per Mondo...) and translate some articles for Cafebabel, as I really support its initiative.
