Cristina Calduch Cortés
Valls, Catalonia, Spain
I am a native speaker of Catalan and Spanish. I also speak English and German. I hold a degree in German Philology from the University of Barcelona.
In 1992 I received an Erasmus scholarship to finish my degree in the University of Giessen (Germany). After finishing my degree there, I moved to the United States where I lived until 1997. In the United States, I worked as a teacher of German, Spanish and English for non-native speakers.
Since 1999 I have been a language teacher at Escoles Oficials d’Idiomes de Catalunya, having passed official state examinations to become an English teacher in 1999. The Escoles Oficials d’Idiomes de Catalunya are state-funded language schools which cater to the language learning needs of adults from 16 years of age onwards.
From 1999 to 2005 I worked as a teacher at Escola Oficial d’Idiomes de Tarragona and from 2005 to the present I have been working at Escola Oficial d’Idiomes de Valls, where I am a teacher and also director. The EOI de Valls is a relatively small school with 350 students currently registered, and 6 teachers. As the director, I am the the head of personnel and I personally supervise and coordinate the work of all the staff (teachers and support personnel) of the school.
