Crystal Powell

Hey there, I’m Crystal. I’m a chef living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I am a fan of food, arts, and music. Also into photography and outdoor sports.

At only 6 years old, I fell in love with the kitchen. Growing up with family that shared the same passion, and my father who was a pastry chef, it was only a matter of time before I would become a chef myself. I trained at Flemming College in Culinary Management while finishing a dual co-op Culinary Apprenticeship. I have worked in restaurants and catering companies across the city, training under various chefs from whom I have learned extensive skills.

I most enjoy dinner parties where I can interact with the clients and their children, cocktail parties of all sizes, the big plated wedding receptions but especially the intimate private dinners.

Coming from a long family line of artists and chefs, I like that I can put my own artistic and colourful ideas into a dish.

My very wise grandmother used to say to me all the time “food is like an art canvas: the ingredients are the mediums we use to create a dish which tell our story.” and the beauty in the presentation and flavour is what inspires the audience to pay more attention.
