When I think about something that has changed my life the most, one word comes to mind: Baseball. It’s the one of the few major parts of my life that has gotten me where I am today. It has taught me so many life skills and has been with me since I was a child.
As an Army child, I have been all around the world living in two countries and three states. Being such a nomadic person, I have learned to deal with adversity and the necessary attributes to fit in with a new crowd quick. I was born in Wurzburg, Germany and lived there until I was one year old. After, I moved to Kansas for a few shorts years and then moved to Maryland, where I started the life changing sport. Baseball has been more of a lifestyle for me then anything. It has taught me so much it’s hard to even call it a sport anymore. All of the practices and workouts have made me so mentally tough, I have the confidence to believe I can accomplish anything I put my mind too.
Baseball has shaped my personality to display traits such as; leadership, perseverance, and the will to be successful. All of these traits helped me progress through my adolescents and be successful in high school. I graduated from Harris County High School with a 4.0 GPA. Along with my academic achievement, my athletic achievements were just as prestigious. I won MVP at my high school three straight seasons. I was elected to the All-region team both my junior and senior year. Also, on my high school baseball team I was our “unofficial” captain. With all this being said, I graduated Harris County High School as an honor graduate with distinction and also received a scholarship to play baseball at the University of Georgia.
