Curt Cashour

Curt Cashour has spent the last 15 years as a communication strategist for presidential candidates, cabinet secretaries, congressional leaders, battlefield generals and top industry groups. Cashour joined the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as press secretary in 2017. As the department’s chief spokesperson, he managed relationships with hundreds of reporters and media professionals. As part of this work, Cashour responded to dozens of daily media requests while also conducting interviews. Following his time as VA press secretary, Cashour became VA’s deputy assistant secretary for public affairs, a role he held for more than 18 months. During this time, Cashour oversaw a nationwide team of nearly 350 staff and managed all of VA’s major communication efforts. He also led the department’s ChooseVA advertising campaign, which resulted in almost 40,000 signups for the department’s email list. A former public affairs specialist with the U.S. Army, Cashour spent more than three years with the 14th Public Affairs Detachment. He subsequently served as speechwriter and photojournalist for the commanding general of Multi-National Corps – Iraq.
