Curtis was born and raised in Austin, Texas. When he was a young boy he spent most of his time climbing trees as a hobby instead of riding bikes or playing baseball. He fondly remembers sitting up in the tall trees on his parents property near Lake Travis as a child, where his parents could not reach him. He would daydream about working with trees for a living. As an adult he moved to Kingsland, Texas in 2005 where he remained until 2018 when he bought a home and moved to Llano, Texas. He achieved his goal of working with trees by becoming the crew chief for two different landscaping/tree service companies in the area for ten years, before branching out on his own.
