Designing isn’t something you just do, nor is it not a job. It is a passion. This is the first thing I really learned while attending the art institute of Fort Lauderdale. As a designer you look at every day object differently and usually disagree with what is “cool looking”. Name brand mean very little to you and you are more concerned with functionally, does it work, how well does it do the job it’s intended for, and will it keep working if it falls off of a table or if you spill your 6th cup of coffee on it at 3am. When it comes to the looks of the product or should I say the aesthetics, you are looking at more than just the color, or in other words is does it come in black; which seems to be all everyone wants these days. You are looking at the shape, its lines, do they flow, do they complement each other, and do the key features do the same. The most odd and unique thing about being a designer is how does it feel, and I don’t mean is it comfortable, I mean running your hand over its curves and edges and does it feel right. Does it speak to you, does it give you the feeling of satisfaction. That to me is what a designer is, our own type of crazy that questions everything, and isn’t afraid to be the 10th man.

My name is Curtis Hungness and I am a designer.
