My venture into real estate began after two prior careers as an educator and editor. I was a teacher for many years and hold two Master’s degrees in education, one in School Administration and the other in School Counseling.
After my son was born, I decided to stay home with him and began my next career editing for a high-profile online company — work that I was able to do from home. This was a fun job that allowed me the opportunity to edit various books that made it to the New York Times Best Seller List.
As my son grew older, I felt ready for the next professional chapter in my life. I had always been fascinated with houses and the buying and selling process. It was time to follow my heart and do what I was ultimately passionate about: Real Estate.
The amazing thing was that as I got more into real estate, I realized that my past careers and schooling fit perfectly with my newfound career. Teaching, editing, degrees in administration and counseling–each of these contributed perfectly to what I believe makes an agent an exceptional one.
Exceptional real estate agents wear many hats. They educate and inform their clients of the many facets of real estate transactions. They communicate effectively and expediently. Great agents are meticulous and accurate with contracts, advertising and marketing materials, comparative market analyses, etc. Excellent agents are skilled negotiators who are fully committed to getting the best for their clients. As well, effective agents are active listeners who fully engage with their clients while fostering great working relationships with them.
Each of these are key to meeting (and exceeding) the needs of home buyers and sellers and are skills that I learned to do very well from my past experiences.
In addition to the skills I gained professionally, I also acquired personal experiences that contribute to my work in real estate. I am a military spouse. My husband is in the Navy, and we have experienced many, many moves during our time together. We have bought homes, sold homes, and rented numerous ones over the years. This has certainly been a challenging way of life, but at the same time, it has afforded me unique and varied experiences that translate well into helping others with their home buying and selling needs.
I am thrilled to be a real estate agent and truly believe it is an honor and a privilege to serve others in this capacity. Keller Williams is
