Cynthia Balderas

Cynthia Balderas is a recent USC alumna. She received her B.A. in Public Relations with an emphasis in Spanish and the Entertainment Industry in May 2013.

An upcoming LA publicist, Cynthia has a well-rounded background in television publicity, film publicity, start-ups and technology publicity, reporting, social media, web design and photography. With a passion for student start-ups, minority issues and entertainment, Cynthia has a way to show determination for her interest through her work. Her dedication, quick wit and one-of-a-kind personality keeps those around her interested in her passions.

A rising talent in the industry, Cynthia has held various internships throughout major studios and networks. Most recently, she completed a semester long position in the Program Publicity department at Starz Entertainment. At Starz Cynthia assisted the publicity team with research on competitive events and programs, created and maintained press lists using Cision, monitored current trends and best practices, organized communication plans, updated publicists contact lists, created clip reports and assisted in social media strategy.

While maintaining her position at Starz Entertainment, Cynthia worked in the Communication and Marketing Department at the USC Stevens Center for Innovation as its Project Coordinator for two years providing crucial project management assistance. At USC Stevens, Cynthia worked on large events including TEDxUSC 2012. Cynthia managed the voice of USC Stevens through its various social media accounts and attended to website updates.

She has proven herself as a deeply driven publicist who knows how to handle difficult situations, knows how to work under pressure and can handle various personalities. As a publicist, she has handled difficult situations calmly and effectively, has stayed organized and puts the image of the client and employer first.

Cynthia comes from a Mexican, Guatemalan and Spanish background. She hopes to inspire Latino leaders in her community and across the nation to do what they consider the “impossible.”

Cynthia loves to bake and cook and occassionally finds herself blogging and sharing her creations with the cyberworld. She also loves dogs, especially her chihuahua mix, Oreo.
