My husband Michael and I love to throw dinner parties! We argue over the menu plan with wine pairings for days and sometimes weeks. We wonder why we even invite people to come over because it's so stressful. You see, Michael is a perfectionist and with his hospitality background; seems to think we are a 5 star restaurant. I'm more bourgeois in that I know what we make will be excellent and everyone will have a good time. BUT I'm also very methodic in the planning out of the EXECUTION of the dinner and that's where we but heads - because according to him, it's always "my way"! Well afterall, my specialty is planning the overall timing, organizing the menu and food preparation that melds flavours, textures, herbs & spices into their own creations of a dining experience. Michael sets a beautiful dinner table that it's a true work of art! On the day however, we find a way to come together as a team in the kitchen with chopping and cooking over steaming pots ... Michael providing the essential taste tests and ensures the dinner plate presentation is perfect. Our evening with guests are relaxed with great conversation, good music and everyone leaves well fed, well drunk and very happy. Michael and I end the evening by clinking our wine glasses together with a toast to a job well done.
