Christopher Collier

I am a native of Mechanicsville, Virginia, and a graduate of Atlee High School. I am married to Becky, and we currently reside in Hanover County. We have two children, Cooper and Maggie.

After high school I decided to continue my education at the University of Richmond. During my time there, I was a member of the Spider football team. I am truly spider proud! After graduating, I had a brief stint of NFL tryouts for long snapping. Following a brief sales career, I decided to pursue my passion for educating and mentoring young people.

I have spent most of my career at Hermitage High School, where I served as a government teacher, football coach, administrative aide, administrative intern and, most recently, associate principal. I also spent one year as an administrative intern at Glen Allen High School.

When not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family, golfing, gardening, spending time on the water and hunting.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe learning is a lifelong process, and school is a foundation for developing required skills, attitudes, and passions for success. As the principal of GHS, all decisions will be influenced by learning first. I believe that learning should be fun. It starts with lessons that engage students by providing them with opportunities for profound learning experiences. We will continue to focus on the growth of each individual student and will encourage them to work collaboratively, think creatively and solve complex problems together. I also believe that it is our job as educators to teach our students to be curious and persistent. All of these tools are essential to a successful future.

I would be remiss if I didn’t say that it requires a team effort to prepare our students for life after high school. I am confident that with the hard work of our outstanding faculty, school counselors, support staff and administrative team, we will prepare our students for anything the future will bring. am a teacher, father, and life coach currently living in Goochland, Virginia. My interests range from technology to fitness. I am also interested in education, sports, and outdoors.
