Carl Weatherell

Carl has been involved in strategy and strategy development in government and academia for over 26 years using both formal and informal methods. His experience spans government, academia, business, non-profit organizations and consortia of the four.

He has established, managed or assisted with strategy and planning of over twelve different consortia comprised of over 200 businesses, 30 government organizations, at least 180 different academic institutions and a number of non-profit organizations nationally and internationally. These consortia represent a cumulative value of over $250 million and approximately $600 million in impact to industry.

Carl was presented with the Breakthrough Leadership Award at Carleton University in 2007 for his impact on the research enterprise; was part of the team awarded the Federal Partnerships in Technology Transfer in 2003 by the Government of Canada and was nominated for the Des Cunningham award at Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation (now Invest Ottawa) in 2003 in recognition of his efforts at building partnerships with multiple stakeholders in the Ottawa region.

Carl is an engaging and passionate speaker and has been asked to speak on a wide range of topics including; entrepreneurship, project management, project portfolio management, risk management, mine waste management, hydrometallurgy and analytical chemistry. He is able to simplify complex topics and present them in an engaging and informative fashion.
