Bailey Lamon

Hey there. I'm Bailey. A 24 year old anarchist from a chunk of stolen land they call "Canada".

I am a coordinator of Food Not Bombs and a member of The Indignants, a local media and arts collective consisting of radical leftist (mostly anarchist) writers, poets, artists, videographers and photojournalists who are also community activists. We create our own media to accurately represent social movements and amplify the voices of freedom fighters and marginalized peoples. My specialities are blogging and protest photography. I'm also learning to do proper advocacy work around civil liberties, prisoners' rights and prison abolition.

Am I a journalist? Maybe. I don't really know what I am. I just care about the future and despite being skeptical and cynical at times, I actually think we can turn things around, so I use the skills I have to impact that process. I really just love to read and write, and happen to be very opinionated at the same time.

I have a tendency to go down information rabbit holes, and I'm especially drawn to technology, existentialist philosophy and civil liberties. You could call me an independent researcher but I have no funding at this point. I research the darkweb and hacktivist movements, information leaks as well as the opposite, information security (ie.encryption tools)...my focus being in the context of security culture for political dissidents. I'm also interested in how all of these things connect to wider debates around the military/prison/surveillance industrial complex, colonial capitalism, white supremacy, the war on terror and the police state, and every other problem in this world that intersects with other problems, etc etc etc. Basically, my brain never shuts up.
