Cynthia teaches English Language Arts to at-risk teens at a quasi-military school. She has an MFA in Creative Writing with emphases in Nonfiction and Poetry. A newspaper reporter and magazine writer for 20 years, Cynthia is also a 2016 Creative Nonfiction Writing Away the Stigma Fellow. She loves Appalachia, and hates brie, dime-pitches, and the term "lady friend". She has a husband, a daughter, and a husky. She tells stories -- in print and in scrapbooks -- to make a difference, using what she feels and knows to impact other people.
