Cynthia Yee

research analyst in New York

I currently work at NBC Universal as a Research Analyst on the NBC Entertainment Ad Sales Research and Strategy team. Day in and day out, I convert ratings and audience profile data into key highlights that make it imperative for clients to advertise in our programs and offerings. The best thing about my job is combining strategy and numbers with exciting and interesting content. Research can be a bit dry sometimes, but knowing that it all relates to content that some people avidly consume makes the job a little more exciting.

Prior to New York, I lived in Davis, CA for four years, where I attended UC Davis and double majored in Communication and Economics, spent a few months in Washington, DC interning at the Smithsonian Associates, and spent a few months in Norwich, England where I was an exchange student at the University of East Anglia. I was born and raised in San Francisco, CA and still to this day, miss the fog, hills, and lack of humidity. (And In-N-Out, of course.)

Over the past few years, I have developed interests in digital media, technology's role in our everyday lives, and the future impact of allowing tech and media to seamlessly integrate in our private and public spaces. I wrote my Master's thesis on the efforts developed by major technology corporations aimed at closing the digital divide. The paper explored projects involving hardware and software distribution, Wi-Fi balloons, white spectrum technology, and text-based mobile apps.

I'm a fan of spontaneous planning, Yelp-ing to find new places to try, enjoying the great outdoors, (not) hiding my fondness for Top 40 pop, binge-watching TV and films, comedy (intentional and unintentional), and listing things. I'm currently trying out improv classes!

I'm always on the prowl for new hikes, out-of-the-box activities, and delicious food to eat.
