In my job as an agricultural development specialist, I work with project staff and partners to help cooperating individuals, groups or cooperatives incorporate sustainable, organic agricultural practices into their production operations. I work to educate and encourage individuals and groups as they transition all or part of their operation from a more traditional approach to production agriculture to one that is more sustainable and will produce better long-term environmental outcomes. As a development specialist, I will assess the status and assets of the client’s current operation, then work with to develop an appropriate plan to facilitate their transition.
