Michael Czaczkes

Michael is the Deputy Chief of Staff for NY State Assemblymember Joan Millman. His position involves (1) partnerning with the community and government to identify and implement solutions to problems; (2) analyzing legislation and making policy recommendations; and (3) drafting and disseminating communications materials. He has conducted research on the economic stability of healthcare in Brooklyn and used his problem solving skills to help address traffic congestion, lack of access to mass transit, urban blight, and has been involved in the creation of the Brooklyn Tech Triangle. During his tenure, Michael has assisted countless constituents, small business owners, and nonprofits seeking assistance with navigating government.
Michael is the newly elected President of the Lambda Independent Democrats of Brooklyn, which is the borough's largest LGBT political organization with over 4,000 members working on issues most important to LGBT Brooklynites. In addition, he is Chair of the Board of the Vocal Organization for International Courage and Equality, which is a new organization working to mobilize, educate, and empower LGBT citizens around the world. He also serves on the Junior Board of the Brooklyn Community Pride Center and is a Steering Committee Member of the Park Slope 7th Avenue BID.
Finally, he is pursuing a Master of Public Administration in Public and Nonprofit Management and Policy at New York University's Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Wagner is providing him with the analytical, research and conceptual skills required to play a role in policy making and managing government agencies and nonprofits. He has a strong interest in LGBT policy, urban economic development, housing and transportation. He currently holds a B.A. from Manhattan College where he double majored in Government and Urban Affairs.
