"Nihilists can justify living like an average Joe by asserting their own purposes and reaping the emotional benefits along the way.
Even though a nihilist knows that life and the universe is ultimately arbitrary and that moral boundaries are governed only by random developments in humanity they can still experience human emotions, because they are after all human.
Just because we are nihilists doesn't mean that we abandon joy and happiness. It is impossible to change ourselves mentally without changing ourselves physically.
Perhaps if we where complex logical machines without emotions we would cease under the shear pointlessness of it all but we are not, we are illogical and comparatively unintelligent human beings that can't help being what we are.
Why not experience life and satisfy our unfounded desires and get high on emotions. We are already doing it, and death is as pointless as life is, so why bother changing states. What I'm getting at is that a nihilist has the mindset that allows him/her to pursue a purpose such as fascism without having to consider the moral side, nihilism allows a person to commit atrocities and not feel guilty because they know that there is ultimately no consequence of there actions and all is for nothing.
So when someone examines a group of nihilists (or googles the term) it isn't surprising that a good number of them are associated with things that are opposed to the current moral norm. In fact it would probably be expected that half would fall into the immoral category and half on the moral side of the boundary because they wouldn't give any regard to morality and their own interests would likely be evenly distributed on the morality scale."
