Mother, Minister, and Teacher
Hi Everyone
My name is Daffany Smith. I have been married for 41 years. I am a proud mother of two and stepmom to three. I was born in the city of Chicago and raised in a wonderful Christian home.
However at the age of 17 because of one bad decision I found myself addicted to drugs, alcohol and living an extremely difficult life. I received my deliverance from drugs and alcohol abuse on November 21, 1981, at the New Light C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Bishop B.R. Benbow, my continual testimony is of the miraculous power of salvation and my amazing deliverance from a $500.00 a day cocaine habit. My continual use of drugs and alcohol almost cost my life, my children, my relationship with my parents and sister. But, today I give all the glory to God for complete deliverance and the continual restoration of my family.
I believe in the power of God. I believe God anoints us for service and His love can change anyone and any situation. The other significant event is the call to ministry. Because of the lifestyle I once lived, my desire is to devote my life to God, my family, the ministry, and to the people of God. I believe those of us that have a calling should dedicate ourselves to the service of the Lord, and do whatever our hands find to do.
My proudest accomplishment is being the President of the Virtuous Women Fellowship Conference and now the Mighty Men of Valor (working with my husband). This year is our 21st year for the Virtuous Women and 3rd year for Mighty Men of Valor.
I graduated with my Master of Divinity Degree May 2013. Education is important and extremely helpful to me in ministry. My time at the seminary has taught me to be dedicated to the study of God’s Word. Ministry and philosophies are changing so quickly, but the Word of God never changes. So I am going to continue to apply the information received from my studies. As I pursue my doctorate, I pray God utilizes my degrees for ministry and enable me to work alongside my husband and other leaders in the church.
