Los Angeles, California

Daisy Pineda Ramirez is a News Associate for one of the top news stations in Los Angeles. Daisy graduated from California State University- Northridge with a Bachelor's of Arts in Journalism in 2013. During her time at Cal State Northridge, as a student one of the toughest assignment she has ever done was doing and over-the-phone interview while on her way to her uncles funeral. Although it was a day of sadness, Daisy managed to go into a journalist mindset and attitude to do her job

Two years after graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School, (in South Los Angeles) through a mentoring program Daisy met her mentor former CBS Anchor Suzanne Rico. Through Suzanne Rico, Daisy obtained her News Associate position at KCBS/KCAL in October 2006 and has been working there ever since. Through this opportunity, Daisy was exposed to the news industry and has grown professionally and acquiring skills that would never be taught at a university. in 2008 while attending East Los Angeles Community College, Daisy changed her major from Cinema and Television to Journalism. The positive influence and opportunity Suzanne Rico gave her, sparked an interest in Journalism and allowed her to dream on becoming a Spanish Journalist or a correspondent over seas.
At KCBS, Daisy has learned about live television, breaking news in front and behind the scenes, and has learned that time is very important and crucial, detailed news and accurate.

Daisy was born and raised in South Los Angeles, although she was born in a part of the city known to drugs, gang violence and poverty. Daisy chose to continue her education and to remove that "at-risk youth" stereotype label. She has never allowed that negative image of the her neighborhood nor stereotype put her down on the contrary it motivated her to do better. More importantly as a child, her parents who immigrated from Mexico, instilled the importance of education which led to her attendance to a four-year university. As the oldest daughter of six, the greatest responsibility for her is to lead the way to her younger siblings by setting a strong and healthy example and has shown them that living under certain circumstances or environment there is no excuse for not getting an education. "If you really want something, you'll work hard for it....it will not be easy but with persistence and ambition you will succeed."

In her free time, Daisy volunteers her time with Youth Mentoring Connection. A non-profit o
