Dakotah Lapierre

Teacher and Mother in Whapmagoostui, QC

Hello, my name is Dakotah. I am 28 years old. I did my Undergrad at Queens with a Major in History (Honours) and a Minor in Religion. I then did my Bachelors of Education at the University of Ottawa. I am certified to teach both subject at the I/S level. I am looking forward to adding Family Studies to that list!

I currently live in Whapmagoostui, a small First Nations/Inuit community located on the coast of the Hudsons Bay in Northern Quebec.

My husband and I have teaching in the North for the past 5 years. I’ve gotten to opportunity to teach an array of different classes while here: Secondary History & English, Grade 5, Grade 7/8, Specialist Arts and Resource!

This July we will be moving back home to Kingston, ON because our new born sons grandparents need their first grand baby to be much much closer!

Although we will miss the North, the great people, the great students, the adventure, it’s time for a new adventure and I am excited to start working in some new schools closer to home!

On top of teaching and being a full time mom, I try to spend the remainder of my free time baking & crafting! I “cricut” and ”procreate” any chance I get and have been lucky enough to start a little side hussle because of it!

I am also really into music from the 60s/70s! You will probably never meet a bigger Beatles fan then myself! I was named after the Dakota apartments in NYC when John Lennon lived and continued the tradition by naming my son John Lennon’s middle name, Winston!

Feel free to reach out if you’d like to know more!
