Dalila-Johari Paul

Welcome to my world! With my hometown NYC as my backdrop, I've always had a flair for different genres of storytelling. Constructing narratives of the human experience is my passion. I've been an editor and writer at Newsday, The Hartford Courant and The Star-Ledger newspapers. I've also been writing fiction since I was a teenager. I stepped out of the newsroom for awhile and dedicated a year to working with survivors of sexual violence. As editorial director for Women's eNews' black maternal health series I'm responsible for reshaping online coverage as well as building bridges with advocacy groups. Armed with a new perspective on the communities I once covered, I'm ready to return to a newsroom that utilizes the power of new media and wants a multimedia journalist like me on their team.

What I do well:

1. Edit! Edit! Edit! A video editor. A copy editor. An assignment editor.
2. Web production
3. Write
4. Research
5. Communicate

Software proficiency:

Final Cut Pro
Adobe Premiere
Photoshop Elements
InDesign/InCopy
HTML
Wordpress
Movable Type
