Hailing from Ekiti State, Olowofela is a dynamic leader actively driving impact across local and national medical student associations, debating circuits, sports, and public health initiatives.

Education and Academic Background
Since joining the MBBS program in 2020, he has been a driving force within his class. As the representative for Microbial Pathology, his leadership was defined by effective advocacy and a commitment to resolving unfavorable academic conditions. This dedication contributed to a historic record-breaking 100% pass rate for his class in Pathology. The best result in the history of the department.

Student Leadership and Representation
Olowofela has held several key leadership roles within the UNIMED student community. He served meritoriously as a class Senator in the First Assembly of the University Medical Students' Association (UMSA) Senate. During this time, he served as the Script writer and Editor-in-Chief for The Gavel—the Senate's official tribute e-magazine and the first-ever publication in the association's history.

He also served as the Pioneer Debate Head of the UMSA Quiz and Debate Club (UQDC), where he helped build the club from the ground up and led its members to prestigious competitions and remarkable achievements within its very first year of establishment.

Notably, as the General Secretary of UMSA, he has profoundly improved institutional processes. He supervised the development of a robust digital repository for information and archiving, formulated capacity-building initiatives to equip UMSA officials with practical project management skills, and fostered closer connections with the student body through real-time class engagements

External and National Affiliations
Olowofela holds active roles within broader medical networks. Within the Nigerian Medical Students' Association (NiMSA), he previously served as the General Secretary to the Standing Committee on Capacity Building (SCOCB) and as the Local Officer for the National Healthcare Trust Fund (HCTF). In these roles, he coordinated health insurance literacy programs and engineered advocacy for improved health insurance schemes and coverage for medical students and the wider student population.

He currently serves as the National Liaison Officer to the Federation of African Medical Students’ Associations (FAMSA), where he reports and provide application and appointment support to FAMSA positions, and facilities information management between the two institutions.

Professional Engagement & Development

Olowofela demonstrates a consistent commitment to lifelong learning and capacity building. During his second year of medical school, he served as an academic tutor at the Excel Institute of Learning. Collaborating with his colleague, Balogun Henry (Mr. Gene), he co-managed the operations for the 100L cohort. Through targeted coaching and intentional academic support, they successfully produced high-performing students across multiple departments.

To expand his global perspective and leadership network, he has actively participated in several high-profile conferences. Notably, the Association of Medical Schools Africa (AMSA) Conference in Lagos (2026), organized in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO). He has also engaged deeply across NiMSA platforms, including the Gateway Invasion SW Convention in Sagamu (2023), The Mosho Xperience SW Convention in Ogbomoso (2024), and the VisionMandate Unifying Excellence Conference in Lagos (2026).

Extracurricular Activities and Volunteering
Beyond academics and student governance, Olowofela is an active participant in the University’s debating and sporting communities. He is a multi-award-winning debater, public speaker, and co-lead organizer for the UNIMED Debate Society (UDS). He has represented the Association and the University at various regional, national and continental debate platforms, including the West African Debate Championship (WA-UDC), National Orientation Agency (NOA) among several other competitive opens. In sports, he plays as the first-choice goalkeeper for the UMSA male football team, contributing to the team's first-ever Vice Chancellor's Cup final appearance, and has secured both silver and bronze medals in recent VC Cup tournaments.

In public health and humanitarianism, Olowofela has volunteered for numerous health campaigns even long before UMSA existed, including the Auwal Shanono Foundation's "Bring a Pad to School" initiative 2023, to World Hepatitis Day outreaches 2024 among others.

At his local assembly the UNIMED Christian Campus Fellowship (UCCF), he has served faithfully as a two-time Evangelism Secretary and one-time Assistant Evangelism Secretary, reflecting a personal commitment to faith and community.
