Damion Martinez

Okay, so, this is a very interesting thing that I'm doing here. I'm a very private and timid person but, this blog although is required for my Composition I class in college I think that it will help me with some aspects of my life and share with others who I am and what I'm all about.
For all those programmers out there this is like my first ever program that you learn when getting into computer programming. So, Hello World!
Now a little bit about me. As you can see in those big bold letters my name is Damion Martinez. I was born in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. I went to two different private schools and after graduating high school, I went to the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico to study architecture. After studying for about a year, I realized that this was not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life and decided to go with my one of my passions; aviation. This led me to find ways to study air traffic control and look for ways to become an air traffic controller. This is when I decided to join the Army and enlist as an Air Traffic Control Specialist.
One of the hardest things that I had to do after joining was to go to basic training in Fort Benning, Columbus, Georgia. I think that this was one of the hardest things I had to do in my life. I was so out of shape that everything we did kicked my butt, big time. After surviving basic I went to Fort Rucker, Alabama to study air traffic control. Now this was a very fun time and I enjoyed my 15 weeks in this training school. Once I was done in Ft. Rucker I got stationed in Hunter Army Airfield, GA where I spent all of my enlistment (except for my Iraq tour) time.
This time in the Army was a real eye opener but, here is where I learned to be a husband, father and provider. My kids where born during this time and here is where I also learned what life is all about. I got inspired by my kids and my wife to fight and always work hard.
After my time was up in the Army I worked several jobs. One year later I got my dream job which was to be an air traffic controller as a civilian in the DOD. Several years later I decided to go back to school and complete my degree in game programing (which has been challenging at times) which has always been a goal of mine. Since then that’s what I have been doing in my life.
So that’s a little about me. I hope this wasn’t boring.
