Damon Colquhoun
Writer-Director in New York
When Damon was eight years old, a bullet fell out of the sky, just missing his head, ripping a chunk of flesh from his thigh. The resulting anxiety led to the birth of a fantastical imagination in search of deeper meaning. Though Damon graduated with a degree in art from Marymount Manhattan College, he learned to craft stories at the screenwriting workshops of The Frederick Douglass Creative Arts Center with Fred Hudson, and salons with co-founder and Academy Award-winner Budd Schulberg (On the Waterfront). With dreams of being a well-rounded writer-director, Damon taught himself photography and sound design, and studied Meisner technique with Pamela Moller-Kareman. He later spent five years exploring post production as a VFX assistant at commercial post houses, Nice Shoes and Guava VFX.
Damon is an NBPC / Thirteen|WNET fellow and $50K grant winner for his fantasy drama web series, Pixie Dust. Pixie Dust was a semi-finalist in the NYTVF / Participant Media “Works for Progress” initiative where it garnered the attention of HBO. Damon’s concept for a Pixie Dust video game won the NBPC 360 Hackathon audience award.
Damon was previously a Ron Howard / Canon Project Imaginat10n photo contest winner. His short film, Transporter, was a Project Imaginat10n film finalist. Imagery from that film was used in Canon’s national TV campaign featuring Ron Howard. Canon went on to commission Damon to create demo content for their follow up contest.
Most recently, Damon converted his Pixie Dust web series concept into a feature film script and is currently a finalist for the 2018 Sundance Screenwriter’s Lab.
