Damon Fierro

Since 2003, Dr. Damon Fierro has served as Attending Physician in the Emergency Services Department at Huntsville Hospital. Established in 1895, the hospital, located in Huntsville, Alabama, is the second largest hospital in the state. In addition, the community hospital ranks ninth in Modern Healthcare’s June 2010 survey of the largest publicly owned hospitals in the United States. Licensed physician Dr. Fierro works there among a large medical staff, which includes over 700 physicians and more than 6,500 employees. Reflecting the mission of the Emergency Services Department at the hospital, Dr. Fierro cares for his patients in a compassionate and efficient manner. Dr. Damon Fierro attended the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree in 1996. Later on, he received training in emergency medical care from the Vanderbilt University Medical Center to fine-tune his area of specialization. Prior to medical school, Dr. Fierro attended the University of La Verne, in La Verne, California, from 1987 to 1991 and graduated from the University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Dr. Fierro excelled as a student, and the University commended him for his achievement by naming him a Natural Sciences Scholar and placing him on dean’s list. To stay abreast of research and the latest developments in his field, Dr. Damon Fierro holds membership in a number of professional organizations, including the American College of Emergency Physicians, American Medical Association, Madison County Medical Society, and the Medical Association of the State of Alabama. He also contributes to the community by donating his services at The Community Free Clinic in Huntsville. An avid reader, Dr. Damon Fierro enjoys works by his favorite authors, Joseph Conrad and James Kunstler. His favorite books include Heart of Darkness, Animal Farm, and the Long Emergency. In his spare time, Dr. Fierro enjoys cattle farming and brewing beer.
