My aim in life is simple: to die to myself and follow Jesus. I believe that, in particular, I have been called to preach and teach the gospel of Jesus. I'm one of the pastors at Tyneside Church Central, which exists to make Jesus Christ famous, loved and followed in Gateshead. Our church is part of the North East Gospel Partnership locally and the Acts 29 network globally. We're a church that loves the Church, and wants to do all we can to help new churches get started. I also do a limited amount of church-planting related coaching.
Previously I've worked as a medical doctor, an academic researcher, and a UK-based management consultant. I bring a tri-sector perspective to the table, having worked within charitable, public, and private sectors in the past (including leading a team of researchers, engineers, and designers to produce a neurosurgical device prototype). As a consultant I helped organisations thrive in complexity and uncertainty (technically known as 'organisational antifragility').
You can follow my weekly sermon preparation notes, usually published at BibleArc, and then catch up on the audio at TynesideChurch.org. Academically, my research interests centre around the New Testament use of the Old Testament, and you can connect with me through Mendeley.
My hobbies include jazz piano and triathlon. Thanks for stopping by, and I would love to connect!
