Dan MacDonald

Dan MacDonald is the President of BIS Training Solutions Inc., an Alberta based Training and Development firm that provides training solutions for organizations including in class and online in the areas of Safety, Leadership and Personal Effectiveness.

Mr. MacDonald started his career in the retail industry over 20 years ago managing retail-clothing stores in the Edmonton area. With his ability to increase sales and improve store profitability, he was soon promoted to a regional manager position where he resided over all Alberta stores.

Seeking a new challenge, Mr. MacDonald left the clothing industry for the home furnishing market when he joined The Brick Warehouse in 1991. During his tenure with The Brick Warehouse, Mr. MacDonald held several positions both at the store level as well as in the corporate head office. The experience he gained while working at the Brick has been invaluable to his own business success.

Mr. MacDonald began public speaking and training over 10 years ago. Now he continues to experience great success with praise and recognition for his seminars on sales, service, management and leadership. His ability to capture his audience and deliver informative presentations has made him a regular guest speaker at the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Business where he talks about retail strategies. When Mr. MacDonald is not working for his clients or speaking at various functions, he spends his time studying leadership development, business excellence and behavioural science. In the last 10 years, Mr. MacDonald has read over 750 books and has attended numerous seminars on the subject of leadership, management and business excellence. The knowledge he learns from industry experts and successful companies he applies to his own business.
