Danaan Elderhill

I am the author of The Magic Book of Cookery, The Book of Magic Objects, Grimoire of Eclectic Witchcraft, Euphrosyne's Lineage (The Bohemian Origin) and Euphrosyne's Lineage (The Epping Coven). These books combine food, teas and objects from contemporary life with ancient magical rituals and tales of witch covens.

The underlying story behind these books, and my next one, comes from a witch coven that is said to have existed in the 17th century and had to devise new ways of practising magic without being noticed. Its members also discovered that the most effective magic is that which is practised with joy, fun and a spirit of friendship.

I have practised Witchcraft and Shamanism since 2004, later deepening my knowledge of metaphysics and other pagan belief systems. I write these books to encourage people to learn more about Witchcraft and Paganism, and to dispel stereotypical clichés.

In 2012, I joined a coven in the UK, and in October 2014 I became a third degree priest of this London coven.
