Hi, I’m Dan. I’m an art director living in Orlando, Florida. I am a big fan of technology, learning and self improvement.

I’m also interested in languages, in particular, Spanish...AKA the most romantic language in the world. But languages aren't easy to learn (as you can see from my frustrated expression above).

You need to have very good reasons for learning Spanish and wanting take on this challenge.

So literally, ask yourself:

Why do you want to learn Spanish?

Unless you can come up with a compelling answer, you'll probably end up quitting before you make any meaningful progress.

Some good examples are:

1. Wanting to learn Spanish to get that job you always wanted.

2. Learning Spanish because you want to travel the world.

3. Mastering the language of love to improve your dating prospects.

4. Learning the lingo so you wan finally understand your favourite shows without subtitles.

5. Talk to more people in your city and expand your circle of friends.

6. Being able to volunteer abroad

7. Proving to yourself that you can accomplish something hard

8. Impressing your friends and family

Whatever your reason. Click the above link and you'll find some excellent resources for learning the language.

About Spanish:

Spanish has two names: Castellano and Español. Spanish speakers often refer to their language as español as well as castellano, which is the Spanish word for “Castilian.”

It is estimated that more than 437 million people speak Spanish as a native language, which qualifies it as second on the lists of languages by number of native speakers.

There are many Spanish speaking countries in the world, as Spanish is the official language of the following 20 countries, as well as Puerto Rico: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Spain, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Although it’s not an official language, Spanish is commonly spoken in the United States, Belize, Andorra and Gibraltar.

As an English speaker, you might be able to understand quite a lot of Spanish vocabulary, as over 3000 words are shared by both languages. Many words that have by now been fully absorbed in the English vocabulary had their birthplace on Spanish soil. Brought there by conquistadors and Iberian settlers, innocent sounding words like cafeteria, canyon, crusade, hurricane, patio, ranch or rodeo, have by now been fully integrated into the anglo-saxon language.
