Dan Dixon
I'm is a Senior Lecturer at the University of the West of England in Bristol, a resident of the Pervasive Media Studio and a member of the Digital Cultures Research Centre.
I work in the intersection between technology and the humanities and interested in both in the way the humanities can investigate digital technologies and the way they are also transformed by this. My research mixes the disciplines of cultural studies and human-computer interaction to investigate fields such as social media, web 2.0, ubiquitous computing and computer gaming.
Prior to academia I spent ten years in the Web industry, leading multi-disciplinary teams on large-scale, complex projects as well as holding senior management roles. Before the move I had jobs such as: a senior consultant for a social software company, product manager for the BBC’s online communities and production director for new media agency Syzygy.
