Dan Gross

Dan decided to become a Nurse Practitioner because he felt that it would provide a flexible and holistic framework to offer support for those dealing with mental health and medical issues. While grounded in evidence based practices, Dan has a long history studying alternative medicine which compliments his approach to caring for the whole person. He has a private practice on the North Shore.

Dan graduated with honors from MGH's Institute of Health Professions with a dual certification in Adult Primary Care and Adult Psychiatry / Mental Health. He is certified by the ANCC and AANP as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, and by the ANCC as an Adult Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Adult Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist. While in school Dan spent clinical training time on medical and psychiatric units at Massachusetts General Hospital, the Cambridge Health Alliance, and the Bedford VA Hospital. Dan also worked on McLean Hospital's Bipolar and Schizophrenia floor for five years as a mental health specialist and as a staff nurse.

Dan is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society of Nursing, the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners, as well as a serving member of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services National Health Service Corps.

I see my relationship with clients as a partnership, where we work together toward the goal of helping you be more authentic and compassionate in a world that can be extremely stressful.

I strongly believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and view medication as a tool used in addition to therapy and other supports. I practice primarily as a psychopharmacologist at this time, and see my role as helping clients understand treatment options by utilizing a thorough diagnostic evaluation and developing a safe and affirming working relationship.

Some people come to see me looking for help with symptoms like:

  • Low mood and energy
  • Anxiety or fearIrritability
  • Trouble paying attention or feeling forgetful
  • Difficulty falling or staying asleep related to mood or anxiety
  • Sadness related to loss/grief

I hope that through working together you can feel valued and respected, and confident in the choice of treatment. My goal is to work toward greater health and well being and I invite you to contact me about my practice.
