Dan Hegarty

Dan Hegarty utilizes his background in mathematics and marketing research to coordinate with the staff and clients of Brotman•Winter•Fried Communications. Employed as a Sports and Marketing Consultant at the firm since 2009, Dan Hegarty provides technical support and marketing advice, and executes projects for special event. His role at the Washington, D.C. advertising, marketing, and public relations agency also includes providing clients with statistical and data support and generating reports on various initiatives.

Additionally, Dan Hegarty works as an Eighth Grade Learning Center and Math Tutor at a local school in Virginia. Here, Mr. Hegarty offers student educational assistance and works with parents and teachers to offer private tutoring for students needing additional help. He establishes curricula appropriate to each child’s needs and academic expectations.

Prior to 2010, Dan Hegarty served as Education Director at Novastar Prep, a Reston, Virginia, provider of in-home tutoring and test preparation services. At Novastar, he networked with schools to secure preferred provider status and coordinated with families to customize tutoring services. The former middle-school algebra and geometry teacher also used his experience and knowledge as a veteran educator to interview and recommend potential tutors, as well as personally tutoring children in sixth- through eighth-grade math courses.

Dan Hegarty began his career following completion of a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at Syracuse University in New York in 1991. He then earned a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from American University in Washington, D.C., in 1994. He also attended the American University School of Education from 2000 to 2001. A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, he coached youth and high school-level ice hockey for many years. Mr. Hegarty carries a Level III certification as a USA Hockey referee and has served as a National Collegiate Athletic Association College Hockey Referee. Dan Hegarty currently officiates for several different sports through the Mid Atlantic Collegiate (MAC) Officials Association.
