Dan Honc
St James City, FL
Dan Honc, President and Chief Executive Officer of Honc Industries, began his career in construction even before he graduated from high school, at which time he worked as a laborer for his father. In 1997 he founded his own company, Honc Septic and Grading, Inc., in St. James City, Florida. The company has flourished; in 2006 it held contracts exceeding $33 million, and it has been designated as a top 100 Gulf Coast Business. In 2007, Dan Honc changed the name of his business to reflect its expansion to include underground, septic, and site work for both residential and commercial development. The Florida Board of Professional Engineers has recently certified the company to provide engineering services.
The variety of projects completed by Honc Industries in recent years reflects its enlarged capabilities. As an example, the company provided complete site development for the Prairie Pines Preserve in Lee County, Florida. This project required careful attention to environmental preservation. The work of Dan Honc's company on a more traditional project, the Next Level Church, garnered a 2011 Summit Award as an Outstanding Building Partner from the Building Industry Association.
A native of Pine Island, Florida, Dan Honc is a graduate of Bishop Verot High School in Fort Myers. In bestowing upon him the Al Mills Citizen of the Year Award for 2009, the local Chamber of Commerce noted that "There is not a charitable event or organization on Pine Island that the Honcs do not support when there is a need....Dan has always been an easy call to make for groups that needed help."
