Danica Guinid
Philippines
Danica, 17, is a Filipina. She is that girl sitting opposite you in the jeepney who looks at you rather intently trying not to judge you whatsoever — but she does so anyway because none of it you ever notice.
If not in class or in a campus library, Danica is most likely taking a walk somewhere, getting herself tea to perk up, or just sitting plainly where there is a seat and thinking of things she missed to ponder on while in the shower. Occasionally she obsesses over tennis but does not really play the sport.
When she grows up, she wants to be Meg Ryan. She will then get a job, own a candid white studio with only two pieces of furniture, buy herself a grand old-fashioned typewriter and, you know, write and write and write. If she gets helplessly lonely she will pet an owl or a seal.
But for the time being Danica stays sane by keeping a jar of marshmallows by her desk and taking care of her red cactus plant named Margaux.
