Hi, I’m Daniel.
What I am most passionate about right now is learning about how important culture is to who I am. I have lived in four different countries, and have traveled extensively, working, story-telling, acting, learning languages, developing new friendships, and spending time with family and friends.
I have learned so much on the way, whilst also having moments of great instability, when I have questioned who I am, and the values I thought were most important to me. I have a lot of questions and few simple solutions, but I increasingly see that as a source of challenge.
Cultural difference is a reality to me, and reconciling those differences can seem to be an impossible task. There can be moments of conflict and tension along the way.
But I have found that getting your hands dirty can be surprisingly fun, and rewarding. I have worked in intercultural teams on theatre projects, where your dignity is on the line, along with your colleagues. I have engaged in learning some of the more difficult European languages, firstly Hungarian, and now Slovak. Although dispiriting at first, I have learned to love the look of confusion on another person's face, when I make my initially stumbling attempts to embrace their tongue.
