I regularly see marginalised people who have little or no autonomy or agency over their own lives compared to many more privileged individuals. This lack of a sense of self determination marginalises people further and risks undermining respect for governance, political processes and related institutions.

Intergenerational inequality also appears to be putting more pressure than ever on governments to find a way to redistribute between different groups. I see this playing out in the environmental space as well as in the education and welfare system. In many ways, the tension is between certain entrenched groups being unwilling to give up what they have always had and new or future groups identifying the need for benefits to be shared, possibly at the cost of long-term beneficiaries of environmental exploitation and welfare.
