Daniel Todtfeld

My name is Daniel Todtfeld but my friends call me Danny. I am a fifth grade teacher at Warren Hills Elementary school in Liberty, Missouri. I am passionate about helping students push themselves beyond what they perceive as their limits. I love connecting students with the real world and showing them the importance of school and the work we do here. My second passion is collaborating with other teachers and helping them to harness the power of technology in their classroom. I love participating in conversations related to #edtech and innovation in education.

In addition to being passionate about education in general, I continue to pursue personal growth. After graduating with a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri (Go Tigers!) I earned a Masters in Elementary Administration from Northwest Missouri State University (Go Bearcats!) and a Ed. S. from Northwest Missouri State University. Although I'm out of graduate school (for now) I love participating in Twitter chats and learning from my PLN.

I married my beautiful wife Beth Todtfeld last summer. We are happily married and are parents to our dog Zibby. My brother is a student at Denver University and my sister is engaged to a great man named Wade. Most of my extended family lives in New York. I love visiting them and exploring the city when I have time!

I think I have one goal in life: to positively impact the lives of as many people as possible. I love to have fun with my students (and the other wonderful educators I work with). I have built real relationships with my students and colleagues that make me feel good what I do. I love finding time to talk with students about their lives outside of school - sports, family matters, tv shows, etc. Without sincere relationships and connections, life has no meaning.

In addition to teaching 5th grade, I am an assistant debate coach at Liberty North High School and a youth group advisor for a local synagogue. Everything that I do helps me to make connections with young people.
