Howdy!

My name is Daniel Andrews. In May 2012, I graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation, Park and Toursim Science (RPTS) with an emphasis in Youth Development.

I am proud of who I am! I was born deaf. I wore hearing aids since I was two years old. Until I was 16 years old, I was old enough to make decision to change from hearing aids to Cochlear Implant (CI). Being a Cochlear Implant user does not make me a hearing person, I am still deaf when I am not using CI like when I go to bed or swimming in the pool. I love my Deaf identity and Deaf Culture. Without my deaf identity, I wouldn't be here where I am now.

Being born and raised in Texas, I grew up in Missouri City near Houston in Texas since 2000. After HS graduation, I went to Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, NY for two years. After two years being in RIT, I wasn't satisfied with my major in RIT. So I moved back to Texas, transferred to Texas A&M, and changed my major to RPTS for my passion. My passion is to help youth to fulfill their dreams and their goals.

Furthermore, I love outdoor activities such as hiking, walking aroung the park, camping, swimming, teambuilding activities, rope courses, and etc. Although, I am not hunting person because I just don't like to SEE animals being killed.

I recently joined the BVCIL as an Independent Living Facilitator in March 2013. I mainly work with youth development programs for young individuals with disabilities. I am looking forward to work with young consumers to become more independent and confidence in education and careers.
