Daniel Ahasic
Illinois Firefighter in Diverse Background
An alumnus of Southern Illinois University (SIU) with a bachelor of science in aviation, Daniel Ahasic is an Illinois-based firefighter with a diverse professional background. His history spans roles at businesses across multiple sectors, including finance and construction. Daniel Ahasic also spent nearly two decades with Courtesy Cleaners in Downers Grove, Illinois. He started working there as a teenager and went on to become the manager of the family-owned business.
After his graduation from SIU, Mr. Ahasic accepted a position as a clerk at Refco and handled sales and purchase orders for commodities traded at the Chicago Board of Trade. To this end, he divided his time between Refco’s main office and the trading room floor at the Chicago Board of Trade Building. He spent two years in this role before joining Tejada Construction as a concrete construction foreman. During his three years at the company, he directed a team who performedconcrete setup and pouring for remodeling projects and new-home constructions. This involved installing concrete walls and foundations, as well as concrete flatwork.
A member of Local 99 of the International Association of Fire Fighters, Mr. Ahasic initiated pursuit of his firefighting career in 2001. He has since worked at fire stations such as Sugar Grove Fire Department and the Darien-Woodridge Fire Department, as well as begun attending the annual Fire Department Instructors Conference. His affiliations also include the Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois.
Daniel Ahasic currently serves with the Aurora Fire Department, where he also belongs to the station's Paramedic Technical Rescue Team and Arson Investigator Haz-Mat Team. Beyond extinguishing fires, his responsibilities range from conducting rescues and protecting people during emergencies to enforcing fire codes and inspecting buildings for potential fire hazards. He also renders medical care for injuries of varying severity as a paramedic with the department.
