Daniel McCue
Chief Financial Officer in Roseburg, Oregon
My life can be seen as serendipitous. This bio will simply not allow me to tell the ENTIRE story. There are very cool things that I have learned over my life that point out that God always had a plan for me. I was born in Denver, CO in 1970. I lived in Littleton, CO until the middle of my 8th grade year and dad decided to move our family of seven to Billings, MT.
So i finished high school at Billings Central Catholic High School, and ventured to Montana State University in Bozeman, MT with a goal of becoming a Certified Public Accountant. In 1992, I received my first CPA job offer and moved to Colorado Springs, CO, to work for Grant Thornton LLP.
After 7 years of auditing, and specializing in casino accounting, I asked my girlfriend, Penny, and her young daughter, Chloe (1990), to move to Roseburg, OR for a job oppoturnity with Seven Feathers Hotel & Casino Resort. We married a short time later in June 2000 and had our own child, Eveyln, born in November 2001. We decided we wanted more children, so we foster/adopted three more children who had the same mom. They are Fantasia (2000), Rain (2001) and Ocean (2003).
A tremendous offer came in for me to work in Ruidoso, NM and we tried to sell the house and ended up moving all of us in September 2008. That job simply didn't work out 6 1/2 months later, so we really put our thinking caps on and decided to move back to Roseburg in the summer of 2009. Luckily (?) we didn't get one offer on the house and moved right back in - like we hadn't even left.
I worked temporarily at a casino in Klamath Falls, OR, but ended up getting a good job at a local non-profit in Roseburg - United Community Action Network. I now help low income individuals in need of energy assistance, housing assistance, transportation, health insurance, disability benefits, and other assistance. I couldn't be happier at my job, with the ability to flex my schedule with family as my wife and I raise our kids in a great place.
If only I was independently wealthy where I didn't have to work and could spend even more time with the kids, my wife, and living life to the fullest.
Praise the Lord for all of my blessings in life and I truly thank Him for what He has done for me. I only can hope I can pay it forward.
