Daniela Recio is a second year Creative Industries student at Ryerson University. She attended Innisdale Secondary School where she graduated with honours. Daniela was born in Mexico, and lived in the United States before prior to immigrating to Canada. This unique upbringing allowed her to become fully bilingual, — in Spanish and English — identify and understand diverse schools of thought and be adaptable in various situations.

Daniela loves food, fashion, popular culture, movies, television shows and art. Creative Industries has allowed her to further explore and develop these passions through an academic lens in her fashion and media business modules. In addition, she has been able to cultivate new skills in business, graphic design, filming, sound production, and more. Daniela loves being able to give back to the student community through her work as a Finance & Sponsorship Committee member in the Creative Industries Course Union (CICU). The events she has helped organize include Alumni Night, Panel, and Showcase aim to prepare and develop students to have a strong presence in the Creative Industries.

In addition to her academics and extracurriculars in university, Daniela works as a Member Relations Specialist at the Ryerson Recreation and Athletics Centre and the Mattamy Athletic Centre. In the past, she has also worked on various events for Trade Secrets, Sick Kids and Toronto Women’s Fashion Week through the Toronto PR Company, Conceptual Event Society. The aforementioned has provided Daniela with clarity that PR is the industry she would like to be a part of in the future.

All of Daniela’s academic and professional experiences have granted her with the opportunity to enhance her collaboration, communication, organization, and time management skills. In the future, she hopes to continue to grow and further establish herself professionally in the PR world.
