Daniel J. Kelly

Toronto

Flame Artist and VFX Supervisor, originally from the UK, Daniel J. Kelly migrated into the world of visual effects from a dedicated background in Fine Art & Graphic Design studying these disciplines at the prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design.

Before long Daniel's ambition to work with the moving image paid off as he began working with The Moving Picture Company (London, England) training on Autodesk's Combustion and Inferno systems. Earning credits on internationally acclaimed commercials he was soon presented with an opportunity to work as one of three Inferno Artists on "Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire" for Cinesite (London, England).

Technicolor (Toronto, Canada) then offered Daniel a relocation opportunity to head up their Commercial Division as Senior Visual Effects Artist. It was here that he furthered his skills as VFX Supervisor as well as undertaking the responsibilities of Creative Director on the majority of projects. Daniel finished his Toronto relocation with Spin Productions as Senior VFX Supervisor both for film and commercial work.

After being sought by internationally renowned VFX studio Rhinofx (New York), Daniel spent his final year in New York working with the epic creative team at Smoke & MIrrors as Director of Flame & Visual Effects..

Kelly moved to Montreal where he established Motor Visual Effects Inc. which grew to become one of Montreal's leading visual effects studio in just 2 years. In the diversification of his role from creative through to high-level management in the growth and expansion of Motor Daniel's key skills developed and brought him back to Toronto where he founded The Faculty, Toronto's premier colour grading facility.

The Faculty introduces the first Nucoda FilmMaster to Toronto's commercial and advertising market and leans on creative collaboration for a new pipeline of "visual effects" grading. While managing The Faculty, Daniel is also available for visual effects work exclusively in collaboration with Crush Inc. Toronto's leading visual effects and animation studio.
