Danielle Harootian

Worcester, Massachusetts, United States

Danielle Harootian is 31 years old and originally from Worcester Massachusetts. She has a twin brother and they both have very similar personalities, they love to joke around and enjoy life, they also both consider themselves artists. Mark her twin brother is a professional ballet dancer and she is a floral designer. Growing up art was important to both of them because that was their way to communicate to the world; they both were able to express what they were feeling through their artistic talents. Although their talents were different they were also very similar, they both were able to travel the world with their passion for their artistic fields. Danielle started designing when she was 16 years old. Danielle’s high school offered a horticulture magnet program that offered design classes; this is where she found her true passion for horticulture and floriculture. Once she graduated from High School, she attended Stockbridge School of Agriculture and majored in floriculture. While at Stockbridge she was active with several agricultural clubs. This allowed her to travel the United States for worldwide competitions in floral design. She graduated from Stockbridge with an associate’s degree. After receiving her degree, she went right into the floral industry. Unfortunately, about five years ago she was laid off due to the economic recession. Flowers became a luxury not a necessity for people. At that point in her life she wasn’t sure what she should do with her career. She bought a small business license so she could design weddings on the side and also started substituting for Norfolk County Agricultural High School. “The Aggie” hired her as a long term sub for two years teaching plant science. Meanwhile her business started taking off, she started networking with local golf courses, buying space at wedding expos and networking through other vendors. In the spring of 2013, she decided to return to school to complete her bachelor’s degree in plant and soil science. She is not only completing the requirements to teach but is also taking useful information and applying it to her business. She would eventually like to expand her business into an all inclusive event planning company, providing most of the services needed to conduct a wedding or an event. She would also like to grow her own flowers for her companies’ events.
